Nightwish are among my favorites for mood music whilst writing, as I Rock into the Mordor of my mind. What do you all like?

David J. West writes dark fantasy and weird westerns because the voices in his head won’t quiet until someone else can hear them. He is a great fan of sword & sorcery, ghosts and lost ruins, so of course he lives in Utah with his wife and children.

Wow! That's really cool. I've never heard them before. I play a lot of movie soundtracks, classical and Celtic music.
Dude, Nightwish rocks. I've got to find out more about them. Looking them up now.
Intense!! Love it!! My music selection depends on what I'm in the mood for. I listen to country, classical and rock. I love Nickelback, Creed and Queensryche. I'm also going to learn more about Nightwish. Love it.
I'm a fan of the classic metal bands: Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath (I actually prefer Dio fronted Sabbath).
If you like heroic fantasy flavored metal, I highly recommend Blind Guardian. They wrote an entire album based on The Silmarillion (Nightfall in Middle-earth).
Nisa, Nightwish is among my absolute favorites-they're reasonably big everywhere but the U.S.
Charles-I'd recomend the albums, ONCE, Century Child, Dark Passion Play and the live End of an Era, which this video is from.
Christine-yeah its definetly all about mood too. I like a wide variety-just wanted something to go along with pic I found.
Brian-weren't you going to do a post about that album?
love that first picture. Of course, anything LOTR-ish brings out my obsessive side.
Okay, that picture of Boromir is now officially my favorite. Thanks, I needed a smile right now.
Tamara-oh yeah I am a Tolkien nut.
Angie-that's why I had to post it, I found it a couple days ago and didn't want to wait for my next batch of weird pics post.
David: Yes, the post is in progress!
You know how I like Rush and remember our battle hymns album you compiled. You introduced me to KMFDM. I still go back to that tape now and then. but Rush and the old Metal bands get my creative juices going.
Brian-looking forward to it.
Chad-You still have that tape? Awesome I would have thought it was lost long ago by now.
Ooh, David, we have nearly the same taste of music! Come by and listen to my tunes I have on my blog (bottom left). I love that kind of music. Let me know what you think of them!
Just to be clear to those who have not heard nightwish before Tarja was fired and now they have new singer. She's good but shes not Tarja good.
Thanks Elizabeth, I always like finding people who like the same music I do theres a kinship there.
Anonymous-well I did post one of my personal faves, a Tarja song. I like Annette but yeah Tarja really is something else.
Wow, cool! I'm going to check them out too.
And BTW, I haven't forgotten about that tag blog down there--going to post it this week. Promise! Thanks for tagging me.
My hubby is from Finland and he loves them. :)
Hey Nichole, they are way cool-I think you may like some of their songs a lot.
Jenn-so I'm preaching to the choir then?
David, I have nothing to say about your music but your blog is always interesting so I gave you another award. Quite a manly one, too! come by and get it!
Why don't I believe you Joan? You're gone.
Karen-Thanks for the award.
