Writing Vs. Blogging

I know quite a few of my readers are writers so I want to pose the question to you that you have perhaps heard quite often before. Do you find that writing your novels, short stories, novella's etc; get's in the way of your more important and monumental work of blogging? I know it does for me I couldn't think of a better post at 12:30 a.m. Saturday night.

That's probably why I only manage to post a couple times a week. I can never think of anything interesting enough to say on the fly that could take a few minutes (the time I have left if I EVER want to accomplish anything).

Blogging is fast food for writers. It's not that great but it's sustenance, and sometimes you just have to take the easy way out.

I found when I first started that blogging energized my writing quite a bit. The main thing that takes the time is keeping up with so many other blogs. I enjoy it but it does become a bit of work at times and can interfere with having more time to do my own writing.

I agree with Karen. Blogging is a bit like fast food for writers. But I do find as I create posts for my blog, I want to write more regularly. December is not a real good month for writing for me due to the holidays and all. So I am thinking maybe editing that Nano novel is what I should be doing.

I also like to mix my blogging up a bit with vlogging. (You know recording myself with a webcam and posting that) It gets some creativity out and then I don't have to tyoe as much.

Sheez, I wish it worked that direction.

Thanks for the comments everyone. That relatively instant gratification of replies means more than the general thoughts of posting day to day news for the sake of web presence.

Hmmm, well, I just started blogging this year and it's been a bit of a struggle for me because I feel I need to come up with interesting and entertaining stuff for others to read about. I know it is rather important to do, though, as a writer so that I get myself out there as well as for networking. I know that I can do it with the Lord's help, though!
And to answer your question, I feel that blogging can get in the way of my novel writing like a heavy sword waiting over my head! Yikes!!

Thanks for dropping by and following Elizabeth. I generally just try to think of something halfway humorous when I can't come up with something better geared toward writing.

I have to admit that blogging is my unwilling obligation. I take to long to warm up when I write, so by the time my blog is written and I am a half an hour into my regular writing, I think of something witty to blog about, but by then it is too late.

What I've found is that the blog writing and novel writing parts of my brain are entirely separate and I just can't be in both at the same time...

Thanks L and Kim, I usually find myself completely agreeing with both of you, blogging is different.
