Sending Them Out

I have averaged a short story submission a week so far this year-and that is all different stories so far (that can't go on much longer). Granted most of those were already written last year and what do I have to show for it yet? 2 rejections, no acceptances.

But it still feels good to be getting stuff out there because the acceptances will come...evantually.

I actually subbed 3 last night, one of those rejections, one reprint and one I had not bothered to send anywhere yet.

So, we'll see what we'll see.

Have you sent anything over to White Cat Magazine? Chuck and I would be interested. And if you already have, try again, will you?

Impressive. I've been sending out a good number this year but nothing like one a week. Kudos.

Rick-I haven't yet, but I will. Thanks for the encouragement.

Thanks Th. I felt like quite the slacker the last quarter of last year and am making up for it now.

First step, write 'em.
Second step, sub 'em.
third step, resub 'em.

that's about the way it works so you are right on task! Good luck.

Thanks Charles, much appreciated.

Written last year or this year, that is a great track record for submitting. You're starting off the year strong. Good work!

Thanks Paul, I'm working on it.

The whole "short" side of things is a bit of a mystery to me. I've written, what I would call a short, but I'm not sure what a general example would be. Care to enlighten me?

Void, a short story is generally in the neighborhood of 1,500 words to 7,500 words, beyond that you are getting into the novellette7,500 - 15,000 and novella range 15,000+ and then short novel range 40,000 words. I think you get the picture.

oh and under 1,000 words is flash.
