Vintage Ads: Are these Sexist?

Well, she didn't even try to cook it yet.
The Interweb? Is that still around too?
This isn't like my local library at all.
You can't handle the soup.
Were there any Ad-Women back then?
Maybe this was in a National Geographic?
Census Takers? Maybe in an adult film.
You just can't find these anymore. And with good cause.
Yes...It is.
Wish I knew what this was.
Wonder why this didn't take off.
Who is buying this fabric, and why?
Jennie's social life kinda took a nose dive after this one.

Could this be any more messed up?

Wow! That is some collection. The one with the child was rather disturbing.

Is it wrong that I laughed? I mean, I'm probably supposed to be outraged but...come on...Is it always illegal to kill a woman?

Bwahahahah!

Ann-oh yeah, its awful.

Kim-no, I laughed, but its interesting how much times have changed.

I laughed about several but that last one...whoo-boy. I'm with Kim on the murder one. Nowadays, mini-van commercials have it all switched around though. ;)

On the ice-skating one...current competition rules give high points for a couple of elements involving a high raised leg. So anyone going for max points (i.e. everyone) does one of these elements, and every time they do, the camera unerringly zeroes in on...the same thing as that ad.

I have to add this too...

About 30 years ago there was a type of mini-computer, extremely popular in university computing departments, called a VAX.

There was also a British vacuum cleaner of the same name. The vacuum cleaner company put out billboard ads proclaiming:

VAX SUCKS HARDER

They couldn't understand why nerdy students kept stealing their billboards.

L.T. -yeah it was sick and wrong.

That's pretty funny Gary-I had never heard that before.

Jill - I have no idea what people were thinking.

The "innocence is sexy" brought a look of distaste to my face. The others are of their times.

I'm glad I wasn't drinking anything, or it would've been all over the keyboard right now. I just can't imagine a time when any of those could have been socially acceptable. Crazy!

Oh my gosh... "You're a walking turn-on..." Bwah-ha-ha! These are horribly fun. It's nice to see we HAVE progressed!

Charles-yeah saving the most disturbing for last.

Caution pays Tracy.

Krista-yes we have, sort of.

LOL! Thanks for sharing these, David. These are the types of posts that make your blog stand apart. Awesome! For some reason, I want to buy a new computer now.

Thanks Dan, sometimes I worry I have too much nonsense here-but then these are the fun posts I like to do besides just writing related stuff.
