Rest in Peace: Jeff Jones

Jeffrey Catherine Jones January 10, 1944 – May 19, 2011
While I have admired Jones work for years (all the fantasy book covers) I knew nothing about him/her. Very intriguing person with a great amount of talent. Thought I better post a bit of her art here-just like I did last year for Frazetta and Friberg.

Very powerful, very moving and emotional art. No flowers in a transparent vase there. Interesting name the artist had, too. Did he or she work under a pseudonym depending on the work?

Nope Debra, apparently (and I only just found this out) Jeff became a woman back in the 98.

In a world where Frazetta ruled, Jones was at least a noble. There was definitely a different sensibility about it, the tortured artist at work perhaps. I really liked all this work and have most of these on book covers.

Charles, yeah my wife wasn't familiar with the name and I had but to pull out several novels on the bookstand on my side of the bed to go, "Here's a Jones, here's a Jones, here's another..."
